Hello, my name is Pastor Casey Tinnin. Many of you have already followed my previous blog, guttertheology (guttertheology.wordpress.com). Guttertheology hat was a collaborative venture with my best friend. We had hoped to create a space that allowed for us to articulate our own faith as we rebuild after years in seminary and our departure from Evangelicalism. Now I am hoping to branch out on my own and attempt to create a weekly/monthly blog of my own. I still plan to work with Stephen on occasion but we are both busy with work, and family. As I grow on my own ministerial journey, and as I have developed as a person (especially using the Enneagram) I just feel that this it is the time for me to branch out and to create a platform for myself. It almost feels like a. I am late to the game, and b. I am setting shop in the midst a huge arena full of people who have a whole lot more to say than I… but here we are.
For those of you who do not know me, I am honored that you would take time out of your busy day to read this. I have been partnered for six years to one of the most amazing, and inspirational men I know. Every day I seek to live a life full of love and gratitude for him. We have a year and a half old Black Lab named Kole. I never would have imagined the old phrase, “a mans best friend is his dog” could ever be more true. Kole teaches me a lot about compassion, kindness, and what it means to be the member of a pac.
I have been a ordained for four years, and have served as a youth director/pastor for many years before that. For as long as I can remember I wanted to be a pastor. I wanted to serve God and people, and let the world know that God is love! For the past year and a half I have had the great joy of serving as a solo pastor and my partner and I are so blessed to serve a small congregation in the foot hills of Northern California. I am not sure what this blog will lead to, but I pray that if you are reading it draws you closer to God, your neighbor, and to yourself. What I hope you accomplish is a space for me to process my thoughts about faith, life, being an LGBT person of faith, and hopefully give some lessons about my experience with the Enneagram.
